IUSD MSMAT and AAT Placement Test

With the new common core IUSD in Irvine, CA has implemented a new placement test to decide the placement of entering 7th graders into the school district and those entering the 8th grade.  The MSMAT(Middle School Math Acceleration Test) will allow 7th graders to skip the common core math 7 course and take the common core math 8 class as a 7th grader.  If they are able to pass the AAT(Algebra Acceleration Test) the 7th grader will be placed into Algebra 1 as a 7th grader and will be able to take an Honors Geometry class as an 8th grader in the duration of their middle school career.  They have given the test in the Spring of 2014.  You may take one of the tests a total of 2 times.  If you need to take the MSMAT again you may take it in July or August.  If you passed the MSMAT you may take the AAT two times once in July and once in August.  If you took the AAT in the Spring you may take it again in July or August. For new students entering the school district you may only teach the placement tests one time.

-Passing the MSMAT will allow you to be placed into Common Core 8.

-Passing the AAT will allow you to be placed into Algebra 1.
